Gardens, Plantations, and a Winery

A short and pleasant ride just southeast of Fredericksburg,
the King George County tour offers visitors an exciting entrée into
some of Virginia’s most historic and beautiful homes. Established in 1720,
and eventually encompassing the land between the Potomac and Rappahannock
Rivers, King George County became a natural site for many large and prosperous
plantations.

Historic Garden Week
April each year
Guests will step through the gates of some Virginia’s most
beautiful gardens, homes and historic landmarks during “America’s Largest
Open House.” Historic Garden Week tours present a rich mosaic of some of
the country’s finest properties at the peak of Virginia’s springtime color.
Sponsored by The Garden Club of Virginia, guests will explore Richmond,
both private and public gardens. The group will be touring three plantations
along the James River, with special private tours of the gardens as well
as dining on the grounds of Berkeley Plantation.
